Hi everyone! Having a good day I hope? Thanks for stopping by! We’re back with another JoSaBi dress adventure. Read on to learn more about her dress, and to see photos of that beauty!

Astrid contacted us in November 2018 from Montreal to start chatting about her summer 2019 wedding, which took place in Burkina Faso.  We took our time getting to know her style and chatted for a few months. We established that she was absolutely in love with the ball gown shape, which narrowed our search down to options within that silhouette family.  Another breakthrough in the design process happened in January; we were sending inspiration photos back and forth, and she caught a glimpse of a previous one of our creations, made out of a gorgeous shimmery tulle. She immediately knew she wanted the same look for her wedding dress, so we settled on a sparkly ballgown. Solid fairy tales vibes right here.

Astrid wanted to be a classic bride, but still a showstopper.

For the actual design, Astrid wanted to be a classic bride, but still be a showstopper; we hence opted for a classic V- neck style, with some crystals around the neckline and at the waist. We also made the upper chest and back sheer for hint of sexy, and opted for a 1 m train.  The final touch happened a few weeks into the confection process, when Astrid and I were chatting about something completely unrelated. I sent her a video of a different dress to illustrate whatever point I was making, and she fell in love with the bow detail on that dress 😂.  We hence added a bow as a finishing touch to her own creation (some more bows for your viewing pleasure). For her veil,  Astrid also wanted shine, but we took a bit to determine which kind; after a few tries, we ended up pairing her dress with a gorgeous sequin veil that complemented her dress perfectly.

Creation

We kicked off Astrid’s dress in early March. We sourced her fabric, sent her samples with different glitter styles and got to work after she chose her favorites. Her overall wedding dress was pretty classic, so we mostly focused on layering different kinds of glitter for a multidimensional sparkly result. The creation process went without a hitch; we sent Astrid a few videos in June, and the dress was coming along nicely.

It was completed around early July. We shipped it to Burkina Faso a few days before Gelsy herself made it to Ouagadougou for the wedding. Her fitting was organized by the Burkina JoSaBi team the day after she landed; lo and behold, her dress fit her perfectly and no alterations were needed whatsoever!

Wedding day

On her wedding day, Astrid was dressed by our Burkina Faso teammate Nandy. She completed her look with soft makeup and a beautiful tiara, and was beyond gorgeous. I mean look at these photos!!!! The sparkly look was unreal, and she wore her wedding dress so beautifully.
