Candace’s chic lace wedding gown with a slit: how did everything start?

JoSaBi Candace came across our website in July. Her beloved and she had just decided to get married in Mexico, and they had a fairly short timeline. She had thought of all details pertaining to her wedding except her gown, and eventually realized it would be a tight turnaround for most bridal shops to get any dress she liked in time. On top of that, Candace is also a busy finance professional who works every day until 9 PM, so her availability was also limited. She was worried and stumbled upon one of our articles while looking for wedding dress creators.

Therefore, Candace reached out through our inquiry form, and within a few hours, we had gathered her thoughts and ideas, exchanged inspiration images, sent out lace ideas, and had started putting together the “skeleton” of her gown.

Indeed, our bride knew she wanted something classy and lacey, and fitted while still remaining light and airy. She was in love with tulle, but also rich beaded details, and wanted a dress that merged all these details beautifully- with a fun slit too!

Designing Candace’s classy and lacey wedding dress

The Brief

JoSabi Candace’s vision was clear: this stylish New Yorker wanted us to design a ravishing nude lace and tulle number with a flirty slit. Moreover, she also wanted sleeves with a puffy detail for some extra sass. Yes, the overall design seemed “simple”, but had plenty of sophisticated details that made all the difference.

The Design Process

Candace’s lace wedding dress with a slit was a delicate creation. Indeed, our bride was all about layering and wanted a stark white tulle overlay over a nude base. We hence went that route and actually suggested creating a nude corset under the gown that would peek from under the dress. Candace wanted a plunging neckline that would show off her chest; the team got together and agreed to add delicate hand beading all over the edge to give the plunge more character.

The sleeves were to be elbow length, but we made them special by having a bouffant look at the top of the shoulder before gently tapering them towards the elbow; we decorated the tulle on the arms with expertly placed beaded lace flowers, that we beaded again by hand for a unique 3d look.

The bodice was all lace and beading details; we mixed several floral laces to get a unique look for our bride and added special hand-beading details to make the dress sparkle just as she wanted it. We opted for pearl buttons to keep the whole look cohesive.

Finally, the skirt was carefully pleated to have some volume yet remain airy. We made sure to keep that play of white tulle atop the nude lining underneath, and the slit was also added. It was such a delicate dress, the perfect balance of opulence and carefree lightness.

JoSaBi Candace’s dress was also a great example of mixing laces together to achieve a unique look. Most dresses are fine with one lace; some need two or three to match the vibe the bride has in mind, and this was one of them. It was awesome using that approach to bring our bride’s dress to life.

Fun fact: Candace’s dress was delivered to New York and needed no alterations (like the majority of our dresses- we are serious about those measurements!).

Candace’s lace wedding dress with a slit was the result of expertly mixing laces to achieve a unique look.

JoSaBi Mariées Review

Candace’s wedding took place in Cancun and felt very fun yet intimate. She looked regal and walked down the aisle with her mom. Her look was all in the details. She wore gorgeous Indian jewelry (peep her elaborate maang Tikka!) and held a classic bouquet of white calla lilies that went super well with her dress. Her photos are dreamy, and her nude lace wedding dress with a slit matched her venue perfectly.

Congratulations JoSaBi Candace! Thanks so much for choosing us, working with you was a dream. You were the coolest, and we wish you all the best in your married life! May you live in happiness always.
